What information do I need to make a claim?

It is important that you obtain as much documentation as possible at the time the situation occurs, as it can be difficult to obtain some documents.

Get a written medical report or certificate from your treating doctor or specialist that clearly explains the medical condition.

Keep originals of all documents that you submit electronically.

Lodge your claim as soon as is reasonably practicable of the situation that gives rise to your claim

How long does it take to process a claim?

The insurers will process your claim within the rules set out in the General Insurance Code of Practice.

It will help a lot if you can be sure to have as much of the necessary documentation to submit with your claim.

Once the insurers have all the information they need, your claim will be processed within two business days of receiving a completed online claim and information.

The insurer will let you know in writing if they need additional information.

When is my insurance valid?

Your insurance is valid from the moment you take out the policy. You will be covered until your policy expires in 12 months. For example, you take out cover for your new gig on the 1st February 2019. You'll be covered from the 1st February 2019 until 11.59pm 31st January 2020. Sweet !

Can I cancel?

Life’s busy.  Things change quickly.  If you change your mind in the first two weeks of purchase, you can cancel your policy and get a full refund.  However, we will not refund any premium if we have paid or are notified of a forthcoming claim or are obliged to pay a claim under the policy.

Is COVID-19 covered by Hustle?

We do not exclude cover due to COVID-19.
However, some terms and conditions do apply.

What are the special terms applicable to claims arising due to COVID-19?

While our normal excess period is 14 days, in the event of a COVID-19-related claim, it will be subject to a 14 days excess period. Specifically,

all claims arising from:

  • Coronavirus disease (COVID-19); or
  • Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2); or
  • Any mutation or variation of SARS-CoV-2;

will be subject to a fourteen (14) days excess period.
