If you want to increase website traffic, there are several things you can do. Your website should be easy to navigate and include great content that your visitors will want to share with others. Make sure your site loads quickly, and use tools like Google Analytics to track how many people visit each page of your site.

Improve the quality of your content

One of the first things you should do is to ensure that your website has high-quality content. This means that your content should be unique, informative, and engaging. The better the quality of your content, the more visitors you'll have to your site in general.

For instance, if someone is searching for "how to increase website traffic," they might land on a page full of affiliate links leading nowhere helpful. This person could easily leave without ever reading anything else on this site because there's no real value in what's being offered. They might also encounter some bad grammar or spelling errors—which can make visitors feel your business doesn't care about its customers enough to invest time into ensuring their website is readable or easy to navigate (if it even works well).

Attract more links

Link to others' sites. It's a simple concept, but make sure you regularly link to your competitors' sites. If you want more people to visit your site, then the best way is to share the love and link back to other sites that are relevant and high quality in return.

In addition, ask other websites if they would add a link back to yours on their own site. It takes only seconds for many people these days (using tools like Bitly), so there really isn't any excuse not to!

Get Social

Social media is a great way to get your website noticed, and it can be the easiest way to get traffic spikes when done right. There are many social media platforms, but we will focus on the ones that are common and proven to work:

Facebook has over 2 billion users. If you’re not spending time here, you’re missing out! Facebook has many features that make it easy for people to discover your content and interact with each other. You can create an official page for your business or organization if you have one (or just use an existing personal profile). You can also create groups around specific topics like fitness or politics where people interested in those topics can gather together and talk about them online 24/7! This is great because even if someone doesn’t visit your website directly from Facebook, they might see something interesting there, later on, leading them back again the next time they visit their feed or group homepages.

Twitter only has 330 million active users, but it still remains one of the best places where businesses are likely to meet potential customers through tweets sent out by other companies instead of advertisements placed behind paywalls such as those found within print magazines like Forbes magazine, which charge $29 per year so that readers can read articles without seeing pop-up ads every few paragraphs while reading them online via non-subscription plans ($12 monthly subscription vs $29 annual subscription).

Run a contest or offer freebies

One of the best ways to increase website traffic is by running a contest or offering freebies. This strategy is simple and effective but can also be difficult to pull off if you don't have a solid plan beforehand. Here are some tips for making sure that your contest or freebie campaign works:

  • Give away something relevant: When offering something like an ebook or software product, ensure it's relevant to your business. If you run a healthcare company and are trying to drive traffic and leads through your site, then maybe offering an eBook on healthy living would be the best choice since many people could benefit from reading it (and depending on what you're selling). On the other hand, offering a code for one month of free hosting isn't as valuable because not many people need hosting anymore (unless they're just starting out).
  • Offer something unique: Another important part of this strategy is giving people something they wouldn't normally have access to otherwise. For example, instead of just giving away an eBook about healthy living, which can easily be found elsewhere online—you might consider adding value by including exclusive information along with those tips to make them stand out more than other similar ones already available.
  • Make sure it's memorable: Lastly, but most importantly, ensure that whatever content/product you're providing actually stands out from all others being offered at similar prices/prices below yours so consumers will want to keep coming back when looking for deals like yours again later down the road.

Write great headlines and titles

  • Use a question. Questions are an excellent way of getting people to click on your content because they make the reader curious and want to see the answer. They also let the reader know that you have some sort of solution in mind.
  • Use numbers. Using numbers in titles and headlines will increase engagement, especially when they refer to something specific, like how many hours or days someone has been waiting for something (like "8 Hours Until My New Job Starts").
  • Use a call to action (CTA). CTAs are exactly what they sound like: words or phrases that tell readers what you want them to do next, such as "Download This Guide," "Get My Best Tips", or even just saying "Click Here." If your site has an email list signup form, this is usually a good place so people can sign up without leaving your website first!
  • Use shocking statements that promise answers quickly ("Cure Baldness In Next 3 Days" vs "Learn How To Cure Baldness In 30 Minutes"). Shocking statements work well because people tend not only to take action but also to share information about shocking things with others more often than not.

Optimize your website for keywords

A simple way to boost your site’s visibility is to optimize your website for keywords. To do this, you need to use them in the title, meta description and URL of your page, in the first paragraph of content, and in the first sentence of each paragraph.

You can also include keywords in alt tags for images on your site and make sure that you link between relevant pages within your own website (as well as linking outwards).

Fix broken links

  • Use a tool like Xenu's Link Sleuth to identify broken links.
  • Replace the broken links with new ones.
  • Use a 301 redirect if you're linking to another site so that search engines know where the traffic is going.

Improve page load time

You can make your site load faster by reducing the size of images, using CSS sprites, a CDN, reducing the number of HTTP requests, and using a page speed monitoring tool.

  • Reduce the size of images: It's important to remember that larger images will take longer to download than smaller ones. The ideal file size is around 1 MB for an image that appears on one page. If you need an image that's larger than 1 MB (like a web banner), consider splitting up the image into smaller pieces and loading them asynchronously.
  • Use CSS Sprites: A sprite is when multiple background images are combined into one large image file. It is then used by referencing each slice within it with CSS background-position properties instead of separate files. Spriting allows you to reduce HTTP requests by combining all your small elements into one big element so they're downloaded at once instead of individually as they would be if you were downloading them sequentially from different sources or different parts within your site (i.e., header vs footer). This helps reduce page load time significantly since fewer requests mean less waiting time for content delivery!
  • Use Content Delivery Networks: Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) are basically high-speed hosting providers that store copies of popular websites' content closer to their users' geographic locations so it takes less time for them to download those websites' pages when someone clicks on links pointing back at these sites from elsewhere online--which means better user experience as well as faster performance times across all devices! There are many options available depending upon budget--some providers even charge pennies per month per gigabyte stored... so take advantage while doing some research before committing too much money upfront!

There are many things you can do to increase traffic.

There are many things you can do to increase traffic. This list is by no means exhaustive, but these are some of the most effective tactics we've found:

  • Quality content. Content should be your top priority when it comes to increasing website traffic. If you have great content that's well-written and engaging, you're already starting on the right foot to get more eyes on your site. There are several ways you can optimize your content for search engines (which we'll talk about below), but if it isn't interesting or useful enough to read in its own right, then there's not much reason anyone would bother clicking through!
  • Links from other websites (or "backlinks"). Linking out to other websites shows Google that yours is an authoritative source for information, which will help it rank better in search results—and generate more clicks! You should always include at least one link in every post; however, sometimes, two or three might be necessary, depending on the length and complexity of your writing.
  • Social media shares.
  • Contests and freebies.
  • Headlines & titles (the first thing readers see before clicking through).
  • Keywords used throughout article text, body paragraphs, headers lists, bold italicized bullet points etc.

Key Takeaway:

As you can see, there are many ways to increase website traffic. The exact methods can be difficult to pinpoint, but the truth is behind all of the principles above. You might not find any single answer or quick fix; instead, you'll need to gather advice from many sources to find what works best for your website.
